Do or Die in the US ?

It was my first time far away from my family since my life had been living with my father, mother and sister. In fact, I would love to lived in my country but my mother she had been pushing me at all the time we started conversation. I understood her point and I knew english language is the most important thing that I should have to study and use it to continue my Master's degree study. At the time, I have no any informations about Chicago. I chose this city as I thought that there will not have many Thais but my prediction was completely wrong! Even though it good to knows someone from the same country incase i need someone hands on the accident situations. I came here with emptiness, full hands poor english skill. (I hope that my english is going to be better.) I could not communicate with Americans well. Every time I went outside of my host family I felt like as an alien living on this planet. I am look, speak, dressed and act different from another. This reason encourage me in learning and accept Americans culture.

I started my first experience day with my host family and my friends who had been living in this house before I arrived. We had just small conversation on the first day but I had shocked by listened them talked to each another at dinner time. I thought that how could I speak like that, how could I survive with my empty brain. As a lucky man I had met good friends in this house so they helped and  taught me with speaking skill. They told me about how to go to school, using CTA, where is the restaurant, grocery near by our house and informations they had had. They told me Chicago is dangerous if you use the CTA at the night time. You might have someone mugged on the train, so that scared me and I became crazy with awareness.

Every single day I had just gone to school then go back home very early. I felt like I could not back home after sun set. I had been told that Chicago is the highest gun shot in the US. Especially at the south side of Chicago, Where is the famous place for gun shot. I thought that I will not go to south side of Chicago. Unlucky, one day I had to move my house to Chinatown. That mean it quite a little bit south side of Chicago. When I told everyone. I had moved to Chinatown the feed back just the same word came out form their mouths “It is south side, It is dangerous, It is so far”. I could not explain how hard was it that I had to fight with this complain from everyone around me. I had been living there about 4 months. It did not has something wrong happen with me. I lived there very perfectly because there are many Asia restaurants, Asia market. As a boy who comes from South East Asia. It was very easy for me to find foods and ingredients for cooking. Unfortunately, Housing price was so expensive. I had decided to move to another house which is cheaper than it. I moved to new house at Irving Park Blue Line. My life had change one more time.

I have lived in the apartment close to Blue Line Station so It is very super convenience for me even though It is quite a little bit far away from Downtown. I am living with Thais. It has black and white side of being with people who come from the same country. One hand, They could help me whenever I have a problem also give me some advise or any informations about Chicago, where is the best place that I should visit, any activities that I should do when I am living in Chicago. On the other hand, I speak thai everyday so it affect to my english improvement, I do not want to blame on another, The best way that I should do is practice and try to use english every time I can.

I believe in this day, I have a great chance, I am living in huge English classroom. I still try to practice and learn more about language, culture, city and people. It totally different between the first day that my feet touched the ground, right now I am becoming more and more interesting in The United State Of America. This experience had changed my mind. It might be an easy circumstance for me if I moved to the new places around the world. No matter who you are, The best thing that we should do when we have to far away from our hometown live in any strange atmospheres , we should familiarize the new things at all the time and open our mind then try to learn. One day we will proud of ourself and the reason is we could live in any places around the world with happiness.

Do you really get through your culture?

Many countries around the world have different ways to live, eat, dressed, talk etc. Nowadays, the traditional culture in our hometown have affected from our high technologies invention. It is easy for us to notice that our traditional has changed at all the time. In my personal opinion I think the internet is the most thing that affected to our culture.

Since the internet had released, It has been the important thing in our life such as one port of my body. We indulge in it also we need it more and more faster. This is the point, people are using the internet in every single day of their life (probably in every hours or minutes). One thing pop up on my head when I heard the question "Does the internet affected to your own culture?". My answer is "Yes" because I could see people use their smart phone all the time. It makes people far away from each other. Instead of talking to person with eyes contact, right now we talk via using our fingers. We lost our beautiful conversations our feeling onto the words. How can we trust the words that we have just read? if we do not know how they are sincere with their typing on the letters. Do you agree with me? sometime it makes a question on your head " REALLY?"

Are you Bad Dieter?

As a normal living thing on the planet. All of us learn how to survive in the difference ways. Every single day we eat and drink but have you ever keep looking for what kind of food that we have been eating in a day. Is that a good idea?, to watch your eating habit, to protect yourself from the obese disease.

Cultural and Environmental might convince us to change our diet. From the good experience if my life since I have been living in The US. I have noticed that I could eat a large portion in every meal. This is not my excuse but this is the truth. I would like to say Americans eat a portion of meal bigger than Asians. By the way, We must control our eating behavior. Do not blame on everything, we can choose anything before we take it into our body. Their are many things that we can decide.

According to The New York Times, it is said that "Most Americans seek out fast and processed foods, not for the price, but for the convenience and the taste". As our society have been changing it affected how do people organize their life style. I experience it. The population of people who has low-income, time-stressed or middle class families. My personally believe that is not a big deal for us to change our diet. All we need is "Balance" our single meal. We should have the 5 food groups in 3 meals a day because it directly effect to your metabolism if we eat enough in our single meal it could not makes your feel starving but you have to avoid eating snack between meal. This is the thing that we should do.

Not even control our diet behavior also we had better to have an exercise in a day. It does not mean you have to go to the fitness club and take a serious work out. Walking 2,000 more steps in a day can prevent weight gain. When your body become healthier. It is going to tell you that what is the benefit thing that you should have for your body. It sounds impossible but this is the miracle thing in our body system. We do not have to make a huge change with our diet but just set a little small goal and try to do it. The small thing changes in the big difference when the times go by.
